In the production workshop of Beidou Zhilian (Jiangsu) Technology Co., Ltd. in Suqian City, Jiangsu Province, workers are manufacturing intelligent central control navigation systems for cars equipped with Beidou high-precision positioning and navigation.
"As of the first half of this year, the comprehensive index of the Beidou industry has reached 1,431 points, an increase of over 470% compared to the inaugural year of Beidou industry in 2013; and an increase of over 9% compared to the first half of 2023," said Yu Xiancheng, President of the China Satellite Navigation and Positioning Association, at the recently held 2024 Beidou Application Conference and the 13th Annual Meeting of China Satellite Navigation and Location Service. He added that the Beidou industry has reached a new level in terms of marketization, industrialization, and internationalization, marking the entry of China's Beidou industry into a new stage of large-scale application and high-quality development.
The "2024 China Beidou Industry Development Index Report" released by the China Satellite Navigation and Positioning Association shows that as of the first half of this year, the application of various types of Beidou terminal equipment in China has exceeded 27 million units (sets), an increase of over 4 million units (sets) compared to the same period last year, a year-on-year growth of 17.4%. The comprehensive application penetration rate of Beidou has exceeded 50%, covering all industry sectors with continuous deepening of application. Among them, the application of Beidou terminal equipment in key industries related to national economy and people's livelihood has exceeded 20 million units (sets).
The Beidou system is a major space infrastructure of China, playing an important supporting role in national security, economic development, and people's livelihood. Currently, the Beidou system has been widely applied in various industries, helping industries to transform and upgrade, improve quality and efficiency, forming a good situation of deep application and large-scale development, and generating significant economic and social benefits.
The reason why China's Beidou industry can enter a new stage of large-scale application and high-quality development, according to Yu Xiancheng, is on the one hand, thanks to the guidance of national policies, which vigorously promote the large-scale application of Beidou and effectively promote the rapid development of the industry; on the other hand, with the development of the digital economy, all sectors of the national economy have accelerated the digital transformation and upgrading, and the demand for Beidou applications has increased significantly. Industries take the initiative to "add Beidou", expanding the Beidou application market.
In addition, the advancement of mobile Internet technology has greatly expanded the application of Beidou. The combination of Beidou with new technologies, new products, and new applications such as smartphones and wearable devices has brought new experiences to users.
Recently, the state has promoted a new round of large-scale equipment updates and consumer goods replacement, which will play an important role in promoting the development of the Beidou industry.
Wu Haiyang, Chief Planner of the Ministry of Natural Resources, said that the Ministry of Natural Resources will actively promote the construction of Beidou satellite navigation and positioning benchmark stations, comprehensively promote the large-scale application of Beidou, and vigorously promote the development of navigation and location services.
It is reported that the Ministry of Natural Resources will consolidate the foundation of Beidou application, coordinate and integrate more than 3,000 satellite navigation and positioning benchmark stations of the national natural resources system, complete the Beidou transformation, build a "network" of national satellite navigation and positioning benchmark stations, and provide unified national surveying and mapping benchmark services.
At the same time, it will promote the application of Beidou in the field of natural resources and expand the scale of application. It will comprehensively build an application ecosystem of the Beidou system in the field of natural resources, and promote the deep application of the Beidou system in surveying and geographic information, territorial spatial planning, farmland protection, ecological protection and restoration, natural protected area supervision, maritime affairs, disaster early warning, and other aspects.Furthermore, support the development of navigation and location services, and enrich application scenarios. Navigation and location services are considered important areas for the high-quality development of the geospatial information industry. Special monitoring for location services will be organized, promoting the application of high-precision maps for intelligent connected vehicles and piloting the integration of vehicles, roads, and cloud services. Actively expand the application fields of Beidou.
